Fear

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see it's path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.

Moutain Biking escapades and the Cycle Challenge!

My partner and I, in our quest to find an awesome, fun, healthy hobby, have taken up mountain biking.  What an awesome sport.  We loving it so far.  With our brand spanking new, shiny, twin bikes (yeah a bit embarrasing but that's ok) we have joined the ranks of the mountain bikers.

I, however, am proving to be a bit spastic when it comes to riding (or rather stopping) with the cleats.  I just can't get my foot out of the frikken pedal at various strategic moments.  I have skinned my knees three times and my legs have more bruises than not.  On one particularly gruelling uphill, single track on rocks climb, I lost my nerve and wanted to stop and walk the rest of the way. I unclipped my left foot (yay me), proceeded to unclip my right foot and unbeknown to me clipped my left foot in again...  Needless to say by the time I noticed this I was already on the ground with the bike ontop of me.  That was sore.

Luckily perseverance is one of my strong points (either that or stupidity) - but I will get this right and will be conquering those uphill climbs with ease and grace (or something like that).

Call us suckers but we have entered the 94.7 Cycle challenge.  It's a 97.4 km road race through the streets of Jo'burg on 20 November 2011.  It's great since the roads are closed and we'll get to see Jo'burg from a totally different view.  I've always said I wanted to do this - and this year I will - provided I go the distance of course...

Declutter Days 10 through 17

Well I've made peace with the face that I'm behind with my decluttering tasks...hell the 28 days has come and gone and I'm only on Day 17. What a journey this has been so far!!  I've created space in places I didn't think possible!  But I haven't gotten through everything either and will be visiting the various areas often over the next few weeks before they are completely clear and organised.

I've worked through my kitchen - crockery and appliances, the food cupboard.  Lurking somewhere in the back of that cupboard was a baking powder tin from the early 2000's (something like that)... how the heck did that happen?  Time really does fly...*blush*

I've worked through our bookshelves and given piles of books away.  The books are all displayed in a relatively orderly fashion on the bookshelf and my heart almost skipped a beat when a guest ambled over and admired our collection!!  What a payoff!

I've worked through the lounge and my CD rack.  I gave over 90% of my CD's away since I NEVER listen to them anymore.  I'm all MP3's and iTunes now!  It feels SO good that someone less fortunate is enjoying my old music. I've cleared spaces in my dining room, but not completely happy there.  I have a gorgeous wall unit that doesn't fit in my lounge, standing in my dining room acting as a "hold all" for the overspill from the kitchen.  I think I should sell the wall unit and get something that is actually meant for that space.

I have started tackling the worst area in my house that is terribly cluttered and blocking energy flow, I just know. That is our study.  It looks better, but still not 100%, but getting there.  The clearing of the study should have come with a warning though...my partner was not at all impressed when I CLEARED our desk of everything and placed it in piles on the floor - ready for us to sort out....No, apparently all his little piles were already organised and he knew exactly where everything was...yeah, so I was in trouble.  Nevertheless - when I look at the desks now I feel a little bit of peace :), so it was worth it.

Things are starting to take some shape!  Onward and upward!!
